A little bit about me…

I am an award-winning fine artist and illustrator residing in Reston, VA.
A graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC, I have worked as
a fine artist, art director, graphic designer, illustrator and instructor.

Recent accomplishments include winning a 2010 Strauss Fellowship Grant from Fairfax County Arts Council and the 2006 National Cherry Blossom Festival® Art Contest. My painting for the Cherry Blossom Festival contest was among 70 submissions received for consideration for the festival. Entries were sent in from all over the nation and from around the world, including Japan and the Netherlands. I also won third place in a national painting competition sponsored by Daimler/Chrysler Corporation.

Currently, I am a member of the Arts Advisory Committee for the Arts Council of Fairfax County. This committee builds on a productive working relationship with organizations, art managers and artists to support the arts in Fairfax County by creating a Master Arts Plan and an Arts Economic Impact Survey. Also I am a member of the Black Artists of DC, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Greater Reston Art Center.

I have illustrated four children’s books that have been published and received three national book awards for my illustrations.
